Abstract
This research seemed to find out if the Emotional and Behavioral Drawing Test(EBDT) can predict internalization and externalization problems of people in their late adolescence and furthermore, if it can have explanatory power for late adolescents who have alexithymia characteristics. For this research, late adolescence aged from 19 to 24 years old, who are attending Universities located in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Daejeon, participated in the survey. Among the collected data, which involved a total of 210 surveys used for analysis. For effective categorization of the group, the group was divided into 2 groups; general group and high level of alexithymia group, using alexithymia criterion¡¯s cut off (49points). The result of this research is as the following. The EBDT seems to significantly predict internalization and externalization problems of general and alexithymia in the late adolescence group. Seeing the comparison between two groups, the explanatory power of the EBDT was much higher in the alexithymia group than the general group and hostile expression and structural disequilibrium are seen as the significant predictors. The result has significance in that it investigated the usefulness of projective drawing test for alexithymia group and confirms its explanatory power. It is expected that the EBDT will be able to provide useful primary data in checking the psychological condition of alexithymia and establishing the treatment plans, when meeting the alexithymia adolescence in various clinical settings.
